Special Report from our classroom bloggers: Joachim, our Social Studies blogger says: This week in Social Studies, we watched a video about Calgary in the 1930's during the depression. We talked about what events changed Calgary's growth. Ask me what these major events are! Liam, our Math blogger reports: This week in math we worked on textbook pages and continued our math stretch. Grade three practiced different ways to get to 236. See the pictures below. We are working on representing numbers and we made a flip book. We are also working on different ways to represent numbers and ordering and comparing numbers. Grade four is learning about sorting numbers using venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams. Keely, our Daily Five blogger reports: This week in Daily Five we did read the Polar Express and did our WOW#8 which was about the first gift of Christmas. The expectations of WOW for Grade three is 10 sentences and for Grade 4 is 15 sentences. We then have to COPSJ our work, add 3 more sentences to add detail or paint a picture in the reader's mind and this week we had to try and add a simile. We also had to copy out our story in good. We had to use the dictionary to define words from the polar express story. We are getting pretty good at dictionary skills. Emmaline, our Science blogger reports: This week in Science, we continued our unit, Rocks and Minerals. We recreated the rock cycle with starburst candies! Ask me about it! FAF Today, it was too cold to go outside, so we did a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) challenge: We had to build a zipline for Zippy the elf. Ask me what we did!!! See the pictures below. These are pictures taken by Nicholas:
