Sept 25 - The Waste Cycle

Highlights
What did you learn today?
We learned about the waste cycle and that it never ends. We also learned about producers, consumers, and decomposers.
How did you show what you learned?
We cut out images, words and arrows then arranged them in order to illustrate the waste cycle.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to finish assembling our waste cycle page and glue it together.

Sept 24 - WOW

Agenda:

SOGO Adventure Running tomorrow - please come dressed for the weather as we will be running outside. You need to have outdoor running shoes. We need volunteers to help run the stations everyday of the week. Room 5’s schedule in the school yard:
Mon 2:15-3:15 
Tues 1:15-2:15 
Wed 2:15-3:15
Thursday is Nose Hill 1:00-3:15. 
Friday is also Nose Hill the whole morning until 12:00pm.
Let me know by email if and when you are available. We really need people for the Thursday and Friday to go to Nose Hill.

Sept. 20 - Nature's Waste in Our World

2 Parent teacher conferences and book fair tonight and Friday morning.
3 No school Friday
Highlights
What did you learn today?
We learned what waste is in nature.
How did you show what you learned?
We did a walk in the whispering woods to observe the waste in nature and then discussed as class what we found.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn more about waste in our world so that we can help the environment stay clean.

Sept 19- Learning Goals

2 Conferences are Thursday night and Friday morning
3 Homework is being sent home: all students have red duotangs; and some some students have to finish writing their three paragraphs for Friendship Interview in their black writing journals.
4. Book fair starts tomorrow night

What did you learn today?
We learned about how to make learning goals. 
How did you show what you learned?
We wrote at least 2 goals in our journals and plans on how to reach them.
What do you need to learn next?
We have to write our goals on IRIS.

Sept 18 - Climate vs. weather

3 Scholastic book Fair Wish lists are coming home today.
Highlights
What did you learn today?
We learned about climate in Alberta and we learned about the difference between climate and weather.
How did you show what you learned?
We discussed how different activities are affected by the different seasons. We wrote the definition of climate, and researched the weather for cities in Alberta for tomorrow. 
What do you need to learn next?
We need to finish our research and talk about Alberta's climate.

What did you learn today?
We learned how to interview someone in the class that we did not know very well.
How did you show what you learned?
We interviewed a classmate and recorded their answers on the interview sheet. We also started writing paragraphs about the classmate we interviewed.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to finish our paragraphs about the classmate we interviewed.

Sept. 14 Terry Fox Run Route

What did you learn today?
We learned where to go for the Terry Fox Run
How did you show what you learned?
We ran one lap of the Terry Fox run and then we came inside and glued a map of the community into our journal. Then, we wrote down the Terry Fox Run Route with steps and instructions.
What do you need to learn next?
We have to learn how many laps our whole school will do together.
