What did you learn today?
We learned that most fossils fall apart before they are dug up.
How did you show what you learned?
When we made our own fossils, many of them were fragile and fell apart when we took them out of their molds.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to finish finding the location, drawing a sketch, researching facts and inferring what the fossil can tell us about Alberta's past.

We continued our journals and learned how to cast things to make fossils.
How did you show what you learned?
We took an item to make a fossil and pushed it into plastercine and then filled the imprint with plaster of paris.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn more about how fossils are made and how to recognize the different kinds.

Oct 27 - How to Make Your Own Journal!

3 Bring something to make a fossil out of. We will be taking an imprint of it and casting it with plaster of paris.

What did you learn today?
We made journals as if we were paleontologists out in the field.
How did you show what you learned?
We folded a piece of file paper and put paper in it, we punched holes with an awl and then we sewed it together.
What do you need to learn next?
We are going to make a fossil to modge podge to our field journals.

Highlights
What did you learn today?
We learned about four different ways to show multiplication.
How did you show what you learned?
We did "speed mathing" with whiteboards to show the different ways to answer "Which Has More?" The four different ways are a picture, arrays, adding and multiplication.
What do you need to learn next?
After we have the four ways to multiply stuck in our brain we need to choose the one that works best for us. We can do this by more speed mathing and practice.

What did you learn today?
We learned about multiplication by looking at window panes (arrays) which had rows and columns. Our question was which window had more panes? 
How did you show what you learned?
To get the answer we counted the panes, we skip counted, multiplied the rows by the columns.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to multiply bigger numbers.

What did you learn today?
We were working on our posters to try and get them done by a deadline. That was our intention. We were unable to get them all done today so we will have to ask the "big boss" for an extension. 
How did you show what you learned?
We tried to work at a small decibel level, we each had an organizer in our group to keep the rest of the group, the writers, the drawers and the techies on task.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to try and finish the posters by our new deadline.

Oct 21 - FAF Explorers!

What did you learn today?
We went to Whispering Woods and we chose a tree that we wanted to describe so some other group could find it.
How did you show what you learned?
We wrote a description about it, (Marty Chan style - "she looked like she had just stepped into a rainbow")we took a picture and we used our WW newly named maps to tell people direction to our tree.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to give it to someone to try and find our tree!

What did you learn today?
The grade fours were reviewing place value and representing numbers up to the 10 000's and the Grade 3's wrote our math SLA, which was about visiting a farm.
How did you show what you learned?
Grade 4's played a place value game called Batter's Up and had questions from the textbook. Grade 3's watched a SLA video and answered questions about a chart and make a graph.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn if there are more ways to represent a number.

We made a map of Barrett park. It was challenging because we were on the ground. It was much easier to map when we saw an aerial or birds eye view on google maps.
