What did you learn today?
We finished the great elf game.
How did you show what you learned?
In the game, we can send our elves out to the woods the forest and the mountains. If you lose your elves you can buy some back. You are trying to get lots of trees to get money. If there is a blizzard the elves from the forest come back without trees. There is also a lottery.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to get better at chance and probability multiplying, adding large lists of numbers and mental math.

Tuesday, December 19 - Christmas like an elf!

Dec 18 - Setting You Up For Success on the Polar Express

We learned about descriptive settings today.
How did you show what you learned?
We drew pictures of the beginning, middle and end of a journey, modeled after the story, "The Polar Express."
What do you need to learn next?
We are going to use our pictures to help us write our own journey on the Polar Express. We need to fill out the other side of our page which talks about what we see, hear, feel, smell and taste.

We walked in "stealth mode" to Barrett Park and then to the Green Space. We saw ravens, robins, crows, chickadees and magpies, house sparrow.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to record this in our journals or in ebird.

Dec 14- It's Dark in Here...Is That You Jaryll?

We are going to present a shadow puppet show about something we have learned in our unit.

We were sorted into groups and completed the activity based on science and language arts.
What do you need to learn next?

We went to the learning commons and made ourselves into a tree shape and learned the actions to go with our song.

We need to practice our song more to be ready to perform on Thursday night.

We learned that in the dark our pupils look big and in the light our pupils look smaller.

We had partners and we examined each others eye reaction when the lights were on and off.
What do you need to learn next?
We want to learn more about how light affects the eyes.

How do people become colour blind?
Where does the liquid come from out of your eye when you cry?
