June 26 - Ketchup and You MustEARN the Privilege

2 Tomorrow is the last day of school! We are hoping to have a water fight tomorrow from 11:00-11:45. Students are asked to bring a towel, some clothes that can get wet and a second set of clothes to get changed into after. Bring your water fight tools tomorrow! You can only participate in the water fight if you have finished your story and sketches, your mathletics assignments and your social studies work on Ukraine. - Colour Ukraine blue, crosshatch Crimea in red, colour the flag, colour pysanky, national symbols, your suitcase with 15 labelled items, Ukranian belief activity. 
3 Report Cards go home tomorrow.
4 If you have a lot of stuff to bring home that won't fit in your backpack please bring a reusable shopping bag to pack everything in.

June 25 - What's a Superstition?

What did you learn today?
We learned about Ukranian beliefs.
How did you show what you learned?
We had to fill in a suitcase with at least 15 things in it. We got a fact sheet about beliefs and a question sheet to answer.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn about Ukranian food, traditions and culture.

We need to help them learn to use google apps.

June 19 - Dissection Again!

What did you learn today?
We continued our dissection of flower activities.
How did you show what you learned?
We went outside and found another flower to dissect. We drew the parts of the flower that we could see. Our pictures were to have great detail.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn about the leaves of the plant next.

June 18 - Dissecting a Flower

What did you learn today?
We learned about the different parts of a flower and the stages of how the seed grows.
How did you show what you learned?
We got a sheet and looked at what the parts were. We labelled the parts. We then went outside and collected a flower from the ww and we dissected it. We then sketched the flower in our FAF journals.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn about the next stages in the bean plant cycle.

We should play again and add forest fire and disease.

We learned about germination and the bean plant cycle.
How did you show what you learned?
We watched some videos of the bean plant growing and filled in some sheets about the stages of the life cycle. We did another observation of our own bean plant.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to start using the scientific terms we learned and put them in our observations because we are BOTANISTS.

We had to complete some tests and activities (and get 50% at least) to prove we are ready for the project.

We need to make sure we understand area, perimeter and shapes before we start.

June 5 - Four Different Ways to End a Story

We learned about 4 different ways to end your story writing. 
How did you show what you learned?
We listened to 4 different story endings and then we decided whether they were a feeling, a memory, a wish or a hope and a decision with an action
What do you need to learn next?
We are going to find three books and record the endings and then decide which type of ending they are.

June 4 - Area and Partners

3 Thank you for returning all your swim forms! We go on Thursday, so please make sure you don't forget your swimming equipment!
4  Tomorrow is Bike to School day.  Students who ride their bikes to school need to have their bike and helmet labelled with their name and room number.  Bikes will be kept in the gymnasium during the day.

What did you learn today?
We more about square units in math, which is what you use to measure area.
How did you show what you learned?
We had questions in the textbooks and we worked with a partner and we used grid paper to answer the questions.
What do you need to learn next?
We will be using this information to do an area and perimeter project. We will start that on Wednesday.

June 1 - Seeds!!!

Highlights
What did you learn today?
We learned about types of seeds.
How did you show what you learned?
We watched a few videos about a few different types of seeds and how they can travel. We then went into the WW and found types of seeds and brought them inside to sketch them with our sketching supplies.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to figure out what types of seeds the ones we collected are. We can learn about types of plants that don't need a lot of space and can grow close together, like dandelions or trembling aspens. We might want to know if a seed is the only way for a plant to reproduce.
