4 Learning Celebration - Thursday May 3-11:00am

Highlights

What did you learn today?
We learned about the different signs and changes in nature that tell us that the seasons are changing.
How did you show what you learned?
We had a special guest, Elder Randy Bottle, who talked about what the land tells us and that different animals and plants are special to us for a reason. Ask me about this!
What do you need to learn next?
We will be going up to the medicine wheel on Nose Hill with Randy Bottle on Friday, May 11. We will need volunteers that day, so if you are available, please email Ms Cowdy: kjcowdy@cbe.ab.ca

What did you learn today?
We learned more about decimals, specifically hundredths. This is important because money uses hundredths.
How did you show what you learned?
We listened to Ms. Cowdy while she was drawing things to do with hundredths (like how a hundredth can be the same as a tenth)
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn how to add and subtract decimals.

We learned about decimals and fractions.

We had a peer checking buddy and we had to answer questions about one decimal place which is tenths. Ask me how to convert a decimal to a fraction. But only with one decimal place. 
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn about hundredths.

What did you learn today?
We tested our bridge today.
How did you show what you learned?
We chose a bridge from each house and we added weight to it to see if it would hold up. We learned that certain types of bridges were not strong (flat ones) and others were very strong, like a truss bridge which used the triangle shape to get its strength.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to be able to tell Ms. Cowdy what we learned from Ms. M and Mr. A in our Building Things Unit. We are very sad to say goodbye to Ms. M and Mr. A as this was their last day with us! We wish them good luck in their future teaching and we hope they come back to visit.
