Highlights
What did you learn today?
We learned about how to be paleontologists. We watched a video about a day in the life of Thomas Carr, a paleontologist. We learned that to find fossils, they walk around a site and try to find things that catch their interest - this is called prospecting. Then when they find a site they map it out with a grid and GPS.
How did you show what you learned?
We took tools out to the Whispering Woods and we built a 2 by 2 array (which was 1 meter squared) with bamboo sticks and string. We then recorded the observations we made in our paleontologist journals that we made this week. Some groups took a GPS coordinate to locate their grid.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to now dig a little bit in our location and try and find some clues about Alberta's past.
