We finished our musical instruments today.

We built our instrument, we wrote down materials, procedure, diagram with labels and we tested our instruments and made observations.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to make a conclusion about our instrument changing pitch and do a demonstration to the rest of the class.

What did you learn today?
We learned about water as a resource in Alberta.
How did you show what you learned?
We watched a video on some things that have water in them or use water to make them. It was astonishing, heart breaking, surprising, mind boggling and shocking how much water each Canadian person uses on a daily basis.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to learn about ways we can reduce our water use. One thing we can try to do is STOP buying bottled water.

We went outside and we were looking for different plants that had cures for symptoms and uses for making things. This science is called Ethnobotany.

What were some of the challenges you had?
- attaching strings in the right way so that they would stick and make the right noise
- taping the straws together in the smallest to biggest
- tying knots in elastics without them snapping
- trying to tape straws together
- taping cups from one bottle to another
- making the frame for my instrument
- taping the end to the rest of the guitar
What do you need to learn next?
We need to finish building and demonstrate how our instruments make different pitches.

Jan 23 - Forestry

1 Read - Congratulations to all the people who have been reading books and doing their mini book reports!
2 coming home tonight is a package of math work. Please show your parents your work. This is the things we have been working on since the November conferences.
3 Please make sure you have brought the materials you need for instruments because we will be starting to build our instruments tomorrow.
4 We are going on a field trip to the National Music Center on February 6. We will need 4 volunteers that have current security clearance. Please email Ms Cowdy if you are available. kjcowdy@cbe.ab.ca

2 Word Work sort words for Ms Cowdy's group are coming home. Students should be trying to do at least two different sorts per week.
3 Two tickets for any Roughneck Lacrosse game are coming home tonight.
Highlights
What did you learn today?
In Lacrosse today, we learned a few skills like how to shoot, how to pass, how to pick up and throw the ball, how to properly hold the stick while you run with it and we learned how to catch. Our instructor's name was Bob Snider.
How did you show what you learned?
We practiced these skills by playing a game.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to continue to practice these skills on our own as Bob was only here for two days.
